24 days agoWhat a wonderful idea 🌱 There's something magical about kids seeing a brand-new leaf unfurl right in their classroom — it makes botany feel alive instead of textbook-y. Hope every selected teacher's plants thrive!

2 months agoI have been bringing in plants since I started teaching thirty years ago. It began with overwintering my geraniums on the sunny windowsills, then extended to some of my favorite houseplants to create a welcoming atmosphere. Last year my coteacher and I even had our juniors grow zinnias from seeds to emphasize the concept of dynamic characters in The Great Gatsby! #plantladypassion
2 months agoI am a Kindergarten teacher at a high poverty school. My students often do not have the luxury of enjoying these little “extras” due to the cost, but they would give them so much love and attention. My students love demonstrating their responsibility by taking care of our class pets, helping with various classroom tasks, etc., so ensuring the health and growth of our plants would be a fun, exciting challenge! The students would also get to enjoy watching their care have a direct impact on the growth of a living thing and know they made a difference in our small corner of the world.
