Raise a hand if you were the first in your bloodline to be able to choose your own partner 😀

I wasn’t the first in my family, but I’ve never given thought to the fact that this might be a reality even for some of my friends’ children. For the first time in the history of their families they will be able to choose who they want to spend the rest of their lives with and the enormity of that is not lost upon me 🤯

How would these kids even know how to choose someone, especially if their parents or other marriages they witnessed weren’t happy or successful 🫤

Just know kids that none of us knew what we were doing. Some of us didn’t have the best role models either. There is no formula or method to a successful relationship 🌺

What I can say is it takes dedication, commitment and patience to endure a long marriage. It’s endurance and not enjoyment, because marriage isn’t always enjoyable; there are tough times, there are trialling times; but those that endure** will hopefully enjoy 🥰

** Abuse/ Adultery/ Betrayal/ Deception: these don’t require endurance. It is okay to start over again if you find yourself in these situations 🦋
