🌍🌌 Vocal improvisation – Nichieri, Georgia's Got Talent Genadi Tkachenko-Papizh – voice 🎤 • It was an American beauty queen who took this Georgian audition to the world. Miss Arab USA, Fabiola al-Ibrahim, posted the video on her Facebook page with the caption "This will take you to another world!" According to the New York Times, her post passed 70 million views, and the newspaper reports that a few readers asked whether Tkachenko might be an alien. • Listen again and notice what happens to the highs in the second half. Past the middle of the video, with his hand by his ear, he sounds strong again, and the highs hardly show. Near the end, while the judge with the beard and glasses rests his hand on his chin, the highs almost entirely disappear and what is left is a deep, low-pitched sound. Soon after, the volume falls steadily almost to silence, and then the applause comes in. • Genadi Tkachenko-Papizh was born in 1964 and graduated from the Kyiv State Variety and Circus School. Later, at 36, he completed the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre Arts, and the New York Times reports that he also studied bel canto, the opera singing method. According to the artist himself, his voice covers four octaves. After Georgia, he performed in other versions of Got Talent, and in 2018, according to the German press, judge Bruce Darnell pressed the Golden Buzzer of Das Supertalent, in Germany, for Tkachenko-Papizh, and that buzzer took him straight to the final. • 👉 Follow for the best of classical music daily on your feed. • #genaditkachenko #soundsoftheearth #nichieri #classicalmusic
