Don’t believe the (negative) hype!!
Digger is an absolute cinematic masterpiece! I do understand how it could be so divisive and such a difficult watch for so many people…(especially people thinking this is a traditional Tom Cruise vehicle), but anybody who knows anything about Alejandro G. Iñárritu will already know what they are getting into…and why Iñárritu continues to be one of the most important and groundbreaking filmmakers of modern times…

Without giving much away (trust me, it’s much better that way!), I’ll just describe it as modern day social political satire (ala Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove) told with the aesthetic of Wes Anderson or Terry Gilliam’s Brazil…

Emmanuel Lubezki’s cinematography is impeccable & beautiful as always and the sound design was absolutely incredible (one of the best surround mixes I’ve ever heard)

The performances were all phenomenal…John Goodman, Riz Ahmed and Jesse Plemons all were amazing (Goodman is particularly over the top!)…but of course, the biggest star of the show is Tom Cruise who puts in his greatest performance since Magnolia…and if everything is right in the world, he’ll finally get his Oscar!

It’s truly sad to see how horribly the film is being panned and how quickly the film has been dismissed (when the trailers started, I was *literally* the only person in the theater…by the time the film started, only 5 other people had arrived…)

I made it a point to catch it in IMAX as last night was the last night showing it in IMAX in my area before getting pulled from theaters today…which is such a shame that so few people will ever get to experience this tour de force in IMAX as its best seen…sadly, most people are now going to be forced to watch this visual masterpiece streaming at home in the months and years to come…

This film may be currently misunderstood at the moment, but IMHO this is a true cinematic work of art…one that will be talked about and will resonate for decades to come…(and easily my Fav Film of the Year so far 🏆)

Always good catching up with my pal @bigsean, this time at the @crunchyroll Anime Future Forum.

On my way to the airport. Just wanna say, love you all! Forever grateful for all the love, support and faith you’ve shown me. Until we meet again! (hopefully) Jai Hind🫡🇮🇳
