Working across disciplines and literary genres, associate professor of English Ricardo Wilson connects his life on the page to his life in the classroom—and the world.
He is currently moving between writing his debut novel—a murder mystery—and promoting a compilation of Langston Hughes’ unpublished translations of short Spanish-language stories of Mexico and Cuba. He is also working on a translation of Lino Novás Calvo’s 1933 "El Negrero," a novelized portrait of the ruthless slave trader Pedro Blanco Fernández de Trava.
“My projects are all grounded in exploration,” Ricardo says. “I see the work I do as quite unified. The challenge is to let go and lead with the art.”
