Well, the World Cup is over.
And like other tournaments before it, the scandals, corruption, greed, and political climate seemed all destined to vandalize it.
But it really felt like once the games actually began, we were mostly able to put those things aside and watch with real joy, something amazing. There were upsets, and surprises, and new heroes. But I am profoundly grateful to have been able to see some of it up close, and to share in a little of that joy. To see it and create memories with Jess and my kids. Watching in pubs and backyards, It felt like it really brought us all together for a short time to share in the elation and the anguish.
Long live the beautiful game. ⚽️
