The decision to limit the Starshield satellite service used by Ukraine’s military came from inside the White House, according to two U.S. officials and a Western official briefed on the matter, speaking to Reuters. They said Defense Department leaders received a message that the service needed to be slowed. They did not say who in the White House sent it or who carried it out. A senior U.S. official told Reuters, “No such request was ever made by the president.” The White House did not answer whether other administration officials might have made it. A senior Ukrainian official said Kyiv made calls to the White House, State Department and Pentagon and was told it was a White House decision. Starshield is the military version of Starlink, built for government customers. Elon Musk wrote on X that because the government owns and controls Starshield systems, any limits are decided by the U.S. military or the president, Reuters reports. SpaceX did not respond to Reuters. Ukrainian officials say the restriction hindered strike missions against Russian forces and logistics in occupied territory and slowed interceptor drones used against Russian Shahed drones. A Ukrainian defense ministry source said Thursday that terminals now work in motion, but only up to 100 mph (160 kph). A woman was arrested after stealing nearly $600 worth of giant 12-foot Halloween skeletons from the Home Depot on Michigan Avenue. The woman reportedly hid the stolen decorations in a nearby alley, making them look like discarded trash so she could return later to collect them. What she didn’t realize was that Dearborn Heights police had a drone overhead, watching her every move. Making matters worse for the suspected thief, the Dearborn Heights Police Department is located right next door to the store. The woman was later arrested, with the incident captured on drone video.
Just because something seems impossible doesn’t mean it is. 🧠🐝 When you can’t see a way forward, it’s easy to assume there isn’t one. Especially after disappointment, rejection, or years of feeling stuck. The danger is letting that decide what’s possible for you. Your experience tells you what has happened so far. It can’t tell you every person you’ll meet, every opportunity you’ll find, or what you’ll become capable of doing. Something you couldn’t handle years ago may be within your reach today. A life you once couldn’t imagine may become possible through decisions you haven’t made yet. Before you rule something out, separate what you know from what you fear. “I haven’t found a way” is a very different conclusion from “there is no way.” Follow ➡️ @Wealth 🌟 to learn life lessons worth knowing every time you open Instagram. HU Staff: Kecia Gayle @kecia.kae Can you even imagine sipping from your own water bottle at your desk and feeling like you’re dying? That was daily life for Rong Yuan, a former engineer at Berkeley Engineering and Research, and this week she decided the world needed to see what she saw. ___________________________________________________ Yuan released hidden-camera footage of her ex-coworker David Xu, who was convicted of poisoning her, just as he went before an Alameda County judge asking to have his felony conviction wiped from the books. ___________________________________________________ So here’s how it all went down: Prosecutors say Xu, a senior materials engineer at the firm, poisoned Yuan’s food and water with cadmium, a toxic heavy metal, over more than a year, from 2017 into 2019. Yuan started at the company in January 2017 and says her first run-in with Xu was tense. He told her she couldn’t use the material characterization lab. She decided to keep her distance, do her job, and let him do whatever he wanted. That plan didn’t hold up. Within weeks, she says, she was dry heaving and losing hair… ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 @abcnews
