Seventeen #DisneyWorld and #Universal •Studios employees were among 281 people arrested during a massive undercover sex trafficking and child predator operation in Central #Florida. The seven-day investigation, conducted by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and several other law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrests of 13 Disney employees and four Universal employees. According to Sheriff Grady Judd, 31 suspects allegedly attempted to arrange sexual encounters with minors, including seven individuals employed at local theme parks. Investigators say the suspects communicated online with undercover detectives posing as children or their guardians before traveling to arranged meeting locations. One Disney employee allegedly arrived to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old boy, while another suspect, a former Disney employee who previously portrayed Mickey Mouse, was arrested during the operation. Authorities reported that 239 arrests involved prostitution-related offenses, while 11 additional arrests involved other offenses. Investigators also identified 11 potential human trafficking victims during the operation. The suspects collectively face 198 felony charges and 290 misdemeanor charges. Disney reportedly cooperated with investigators and terminated the employees involved, according to Sheriff Judd. Authorities emphasized that the investigation was intended to identify individuals seeking sexual contact with children, address prostitution-related offenses and help victims of human trafficking. The suspects have been arrested, but the allegations have not been proven in court. (📸: @gettyimages)
On Friday night, while Poland’s elected president was in the air on his way to Senegal, the police moved on the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw. Officers cordoned off the building, took control of the empty headquarters, and refused entry to the court’s own security staff, its vice president, and its director. Hours earlier, a judge who has never taken the oath of office before the president had signed an order suspending the court’s lawful president and vice president. The court itself answered on its own channels: an illegal takeover, and anyone taking part in it is committing the crime of coup d’état. President Karol Nawrocki turned his plane around mid-flight. “In such a moment, the president must be in Poland,” he wrote. “I am returning.” He had refused to swear in three judges imposed by the parliamentary majority, and the court’s president had refused to seat them, and that refusal was the last check on a prime minister who promised to restore his version of order by any method the state allows. The standoff had been building for weeks: police pushing protesters from the court, a prosecutor demanding the court’s tapes, a judge sworn in before an empty chair. Friday night was the moment the methods ran out of patience. Donald Tusk calls it the restoration of the rule of law. The court calls it a coup. The opposition leader calls it a coup. The institute that defends Poland’s constitution cites the penal code: up to twenty years for removing a constitutional body by force. Poland did not vote for this. More than ten million Poles elected Nawrocki last year, and the prime minister who lost that election just sent the police to seize the court that stood in his way. Europe is watching. So is every voter who still believes a ballot beats a baton.
