₹1,400 bought us 3 days of food in Japan.

And the weirdest part? We weren’t the only ones waiting for it.
Japanese locals actually line up around the supermarket’s discounted-food section in the evening, because this is when the little discount stickers start appearing on fresh food made that same day.

Think sushi, bentos, bakery items and prepared meals.
The discounts usually start around 20%, then 30%, 50%, and if you wait until closer to closing, some items can go as high as 80% off.

But here’s the part most tourists miss: you need to know what sign to look for.
Look for the discount stickers on the packaging - especially- 半額 , which literally means half price. If you see those stickers appearing, you’re in the right section at the right time.

And yes, you might find yourself doing what the locals are doing…
waiting to see if the next sticker gets even better. 😂

Save this for your Japan trip - because ₹1,400 for three days of fresh food is a hack worth knowing.
