All (mostly) quiet on the heron colony front…
Most of the nests have fledged, and only 10 juveniles remain.
Once fledged, they will head straight to local, shallow-water feeding grounds to learn to hunt. Many fledglings can be seen along the seawall or wetlands, identified by their fuzzy, unkempt crests and distinct streaks or stripes down the front of their necks.
