@nextones stands out for prioritising place as the curatorial starting point. performances unfold in dialogue with the striking terrain, inviting artists to reconsider how sound interacts with space.
at this year's festival,
@kenichiiwasa's performance embodied this approach, the deep drone sound of his invented hybrid horn/flute instrument mixed with on-site field recordings, quite literally folding in the surrounding landscape as an active component of the work.
