Players come to me worried about inconsistency all the time.

Sharp on Tuesday, flat on Friday. Explosive one week, heavy-legged the next. Nothing different in training, sleep or nutrition.

The honest answer is that during growth periods, the way your nervous system recruits muscle for different movements fluctuates in ways that even sports scientists haven't fully figured out yet. Your power output on a single leg versus both legs shifts unpredictably while your body is developing. Which means you can genuinely feel like a completely different athlete across the same week, through no fault in your preparation.

The players who handle this well are the ones who know it's a normal part of development, not a sign something's gone wrong.

And the scouts who know what they're doing know it too. They're not looking for the player who's perfect every session. They're looking for something else entirely.

Comment SECRET and I'll send you the free Scouting Secrets Blackbook, what scouts are actually watching and what they're not.
