Thank you so much to the wonderful team at @eastsidemag for accepting my artwork for this issue! The theme for this edition is "Joy/Alegria", which has been an ongoing theme in my artwork for many years. One of my many goals is to celebrate my hometown of San Jose, my Mexican American Heritage, and my indigenous roots. Era of the Fifth sun, as some of you may recall, draws upon the Aztec conception of time, which puts the current era in "The Era of the Fifth Sun". Absolutely stoked to be alongside so many wonderful writers and artists from San Jose :,) 🫶🏼 // ¡Muchísimas gracias al maravilloso equipo de @eastsidemag por aceptar mi obra para esta edición! El tema de este número es "Joy/Alegría", un concepto que ha estado presente en mi trabajo artístico desde hace muchos años. Uno de mis muchos objetivos es celebrar mi ciudad natal, San José, así como mi herencia mexicoamericana y mis raíces indígenas. *Era of the Fifth Sun* (La era del quinto sol), como algunos recordarán, se inspira en la concepción azteca del tiempo, la cual sitúa nuestra época actual en "la era del quinto sol". Me hace muchísima ilusión compartir espacio con tantos escritores y artistas maravillosos de San José :,) 🫶🏼
