During the mid 2000s, Phones, aka Paul Epworth, consistently pushed his remixes into bold, cutting-edge territory. Compared to the sound at the time, it felt as if his remixes were observing the post Punk sound from the outside looking in. His productions felt like he reshaped a familiar sound into something fresh, unexpected, and ahead of the time. He went on to work with the likes of Adele, Florence and The Machine, and Rhianna. Around the same time, he founded his own label, Wolf Tone, which has since seen releases from artists such as Glass Animals, Rosie Lowe, and The Horrors. This was once a concealed weapon in my bag.
