Ignoring warnings from seers, the Trojans brought the structure inside; that night, the hidden soldiers emerged to open the city gates, allowing the returning Greek army to sack Troy.

The concept of the Trojan horse has transcended classical literature to describe any deceptive tactic intended to undermine an adversary from within. In information security, the term defines malicious software that evades detection by masquerading as a trusted or benign application. Once authorized and executed by a user, these programs deploy hidden code to steal personal data, damage operating systems, or create network vulnerabilities.
