Power Rangers Samurai is the eighteenth season of the long-running Power Rangers franchise, which premiered on Nickelodeon in February 2011 as the first entry produced by Saban Brands after the company reacquired the rights from Disney. Based on the Japanese Super Sentai series Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, it follows a new team of Rangers who inherit ancient Symbol Power from their samurai ancestors to battle Master Xandred and his army of Nighlok monsters. The Nighloks seek to flood the Earth with the poisonous waters of the Sanzu River; the core team consists of Red Ranger Jayden Shiba, Blue Ranger Kevin, Pink Ranger Mia Watanabe, Green Ranger Mike, and Yellow Ranger Emily, later joined by Gold Ranger Antonio Garcia, with the group morphing via Samuraizers and piloting origami-inspired Zords in combat.

The season marked a return to a multi-season format, continuing as Power Rangers Super Samurai in 2012, and was the first to be filmed and broadcast in high-definition widescreen. It featured a brighter, more comedic tone than some previous entries while emphasizing themes of duty, family legacy, and teamwork through sword-based battles and element-powered abilities. Though it successfully reintroduced the franchise to a new generation of viewers with solid ratings and memorable characters like the stoic leader Jayden and mentor Ji, fan reception has been mixed, with praise for its action and visual style often tempered by criticism of its heavy dependence on adapted Sentai footage and simpler storytelling.

On October 29, 2022, 159 people lost their lives in the Itaewon crowd crush. Many were in their 20s.

Four years later, we remember them and hold their loved ones and the survivors in our thoughts.
