Oh hello and welcome to my home. The folks at @hellocanadamag came by and captured some shots of my natural habitat. A couple of behind the scenes shots in there toooo.
Today in Brussels, we discussed deepening security and defence cooperation between the UK and EU. In a new era of threat, working together helps strengthen Europe’s security and deter our adversaries.
Women in India pay a pink tax just to reach college safely. World Bank economist Girija Borker studied how students in Delhi choose their colleges, weighing quality against the safety of the daily commute. A woman student is willing to settle for a college about 8 ranks lower for a route that feels meaningfully safer. A man trades away less than 1 rank for the same. Women are also willing to spend roughly Rs 18,800 more per year than men for that safer route, and travel up to 40 minutes longer every day. With subsidised Delhi University fees, that extra spend is nearly double the average annual tuition. She pays more to reach college safely than to study there. A lower-ranked college means weaker peer networks, fewer specialised skills and lower placement salaries, depressing earnings for decades. The cheapest lever may be boringly simple: safe buses, lit streets, reliable transport and a police system that protects women. Tamil Nadu has done so much better. The rest of India can learn from it. Should safe transport count as education spending? Comment YES or NO. #PinkTax #WomenSafety #GenderGap #Education #DelhiUniversity #TamilNadu #PublicTransport #MarketsWithJayant
8 years ago today, Metro Boomin dropped ‘NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES,’ but it wasn't supposed to happen 💥 ㅤ Months before its release, Metro seemingly disappeared from hip-hop, changing his Instagram bio to “Retired from rap” and going silent on social media. Then, mysterious missing-person billboards appeared across New York City and Atlanta, asking “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?” as 21 Savage, Offset and NAV helped fuel the speculation. ㅤ On Halloween 2018, Metro finally broke his silence, revealing the album artwork before dropping his debut studio album on Nov. 2. ㅤ Featuring 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Gunna, Young Thug, Drake and more, the project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, cementing Metro's status as one of hip-hop's defining producers. ㅤ Eight years later, is ‘NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES’ Metro's best project? ㅤ (📸: GETTY)
