Dorothy is set in rural Tamil Nadu in the early 1990s. The story revolves around Karthi and Subbu, two childhood friends who grow up extremely close in a village dominated by caste divisions, violence and rigid ideas of masculinity. As they grow older, Dorothy (Keerthy Suresh) enters their lives. She becomes connected to both men, and her presence gradually exposes the differences between them. Their once-unbreakable friendship starts to fracture through love, jealousy, social conditioning and misunderstandings. The film then moves into a darker crime-drama territory, exploring how their friendship is affected by caste, patriarchal expectations, violence and the inability of men to express vulnerability. Dorothy's compassion challenges the harsh worldview surrounding the characters.
