45 trips around the sun as of today. 35 years left if I live to the Canadian average That means roughly 13,350 days left to do what I need to do.

Hopefully I get to spend most of those mornings waking up next to @lexycparks

Hopefully I get to see my kids grow up and succeed.

Hopefully I can be there for my real friends when they need me.

I think one of the hardest things about growing up and getting older is getting stuck in sunk cost fallacies. I've been doing certain things for a long time, in a certain way. It's really easy to just keep doing those same things without questioning why I'm doing them or if there’s actually a better way.

One thing I've been asking myself a lot lately is: if I was starting from scratch right now, would I do this thing? Would I own this asset? Would I buy this investment again? Would I start this relationship? Would I do that activity or sport? Or am I just doing that thing, owning that asset, maintaining that relationship or thinking that way because that's the way I've always done it?

Happy belated Birthday Clay :) - I was thinking about your questions.....and I wanna share a bit of it ... I think this is are valuable questions because it can reveal how often we continue something simply because we have already invested so much in it. But I also don’t think our past should be treated as irrelevant. We are never truly starting from scratch. Relationships, commitments and experiences can gain meaning over time that did not exist at the beginning. So perhaps the question is not only, “Would I choose this again today?” but also, “Knowing what this has become, do I still consciously choose to care for it?” I don’t want the past to trap me, but I also don’t want to confuse loyalty, history and genuine attachment with mere sunk costs.
