G¥nmen Abd¥ct Catholic Priest, Along Otobi Amejo-Ajegbe Road, Benue State

Reverend Father John Inalegwu Otache, the Parish Priest of St. Margaret’s Parish, Ajegbe-Awume, has reportedly been kidn@pped by g¥nmen along the Otobi Amejo-Ajegbe road in Ohimini LGA, Benue State.

Otache was reportedly abducted on Tuesday while returning from Otukpo.

The Catholic Diocese of Otukpo confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Reverend Father Joseph Aboyi Itodo.

According to the statement, the Bishop of the diocese, Most Rev. Michael Ekwoyi Apochi, was deeply pained by the incident and called on Christians and people of goodwill to pray for the priest’s safe and speedy release.

The diocese added that efforts were being intensified to secure his release, noting that it was the second time a priest serving at St. Margaret’s Parish, Ajegbe-Awume, had been kidn@pped.

Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Peter Aondongu, said the police were investigating the reported abd¥ction.

“I don’t have that report yet. They said he was coming from Ohimini and going to Otukpo. He is a Catholic priest, a Reverend Father. They said it happened on Tuesday,” Aondongu said.

He later added, “Yes, they confirmed it. I can confirm that it happened on Tuesday. He has not been rescued yet. Our teams are still making efforts to rescue him.”

I think social media has completely stopped being a place where we feel "free" and "authentic." If a video doesn't grab attention in its first 5 seconds, it isn't shown to almost 90% of our followers. There's this thing called the algorithm, and when you create content, you have to do what the algorithm wants, not what you or your followers want. I think we've all been affected by this to some degree.

For example, last night I composed a melody with intense emotions. Today I filmed myself playing it so I wouldn't forget it, and my cat Burhan came over and listened. I wanted to share it, then I thought, "There's nothing eye-catching in this video, the algorithm will show it to very few people." So I decided not to post it. But then I thought: if I want to share this, and I'm not going to because it doesn't fit what the algorithm wants, then why is this my page? I think we just shouldn't care about it at all 🙂

I've been very stressed lately, struggling with so many things at once. I don't want to complain. Amid all my troubles, I just wanted to share a video of a few minutes at the piano, together with my dear cat Burhan 🤍
