BALKAN HARDCORE
Featuring 6 records released by Balkan hardcore bands, this time from: Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece and Serbia.
You can check all these bands out on Bandcamp. Some of these bands are inactive.
1) “AMICI DEI INEMICI MUNDI”
by @vendettasct (Sofia, Bulgaria)
One of the OG Bulgarian hardcore records, released in 2005. and featuring 10 tracks, this is one of the best releases in Balkan hardcore history. Vendetta SCT to this day remains one of the hardest bands in the region and in my opinion also worldwide. “Hate City”, a song about Sofia, is the essential track from this record.
2) “BROKEN DREAMS”
by @steppedoutxhc (Split, Croatia)
A single released in 2024. by Split hardcore band Stepped Out, it is a classic/melodic hardcore record by an iconic Croatian band that continues to carry the torch in a part of the country where hardcore is less prominent. Stepped Out has been around since 2012. and they are one of the best melodic hardcore bands in the region, shout out to these guys, who I am proud to say are my friends, for still being around and playing.
3) “FRIENDSHIP”
split between @myturnhardcore (Athens, Greece)
& The Bridge (Belgrade, Serbia)
A two-song split between Athens & Belgrade hardcore champions My Turn & The Bridge - this record is classic hardcore at its best. Check it out on Bandcamp!
4) “ZAGREB HARDCORE”
by Stronghold (Zagreb, Croatia)
An EP released in 2003. by Zagreb hardcore band Stronghold (now inactive), the 6 tracks show clear inspiration and carry the real New York hardcore style.
5) “HEARTLESS, SHALLOW AND CRUEL”
by @expectationshardcore (Sofia, Bulgaria)
A 10-track album released in 2022., this is some real deal, beautiful melodic hardcore by Sofia hardcore band Expectations. Catch them on tour this October with Madball, Combust and Desolated!
6) “AGAINST THE GRAIN”
by @runsdeephc (Athens, Greece)
A powerful straight-up hardcore record with female vocals by Athens hardcore band Runs Deep, featuring 10 powerful tracks. Released in June 2025.
