This isn’t to say that everyone who takes outside funding is shady, it’s just a reminder that I could have retired long ago if I wanted to take the kind of money that’s available in this space. The kind of money that pays $10 million + a year if you’re willing to say the things people want you to say and you have a large enough platform. 18-year-old Texas detention deputy Karla Beltran was fired after photos surfaced showing her posing in uniform with female inmates behind a glass partition. The pictures show them smiling, doing peace signs, and throwing up their middle fingers in one shot. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office dismissed her on October 12 while she was still on probation. Officials are investigating who took the photos and how they ended up online. No criminal charges are pending in connection with the incident.
