We are back in Blue Sky Bay, and it is time for the grumpy chef Bass to meet his match when real estate attorney Briar bursts into his restaurant, trying to buy it from him to turn the land into a luxury resort. But Bass will not easily let go of the place that he has built and made his own. In this enemies-to-lovers workplace romance, we see these two go from enemies to reluctant partners to something more. As they start working together, Bass begins to learn that there is way more to Briar than the spoiled rich girl he thinks she is. She has a very rocky relationship with her father, whom she did not meet until she was twenty. This makes Bass very protective of her because he also has a very toxic relationship with his mother, too. What starts out as a friends-with-benefits relationship—because she is leaving soon—very quickly develops into something with feelings. If you enjoy a sweet, low angst grumpy sunshine romance then this is a perfect read.

The narration of this book was excellent. Jason Clarke and Desiree Ketchum can do no wrong.

❓️QOTD: How was everyone's weekend? Did you read any good books or do anything fun?

❗️AOTD: I was able to read two books and start two more. Isaias came through this weekend. We spent 45 minutes yesterday taking cover from a tornado. Thankfully, it did not hit us, but it did touch down about 10 minutes away from our home in town. We were at the Dollar General two minutes away from our house when my phone went off with the tornado alert, so I booked it home and we took cover. One of my daughters was terrified, my Great Danes were pacing, and it was scary.
