At kilometre 5, my groin filed a formal complaint. 😅
25km. 10 loops. 2 climbs up ramps on every single loop, because apparently my legs needed to argue with gravity ten separate times before this race would let me finish.
I almost didn't start this one. Between the flooding wrecking outdoor training for two months straight and just not feeling ready for how intense criteriums are, my plan was to train through August and race later. Sensible. Safe. Boring, honestly.
Then a Pro from my club,
@cycologycc, gave me one pep talk that landed on "just do it" and I said fine, let's find out. 🚴🏾♀️Flip through the slides for the video of me talking about how anxious I was the night before.
During the race, I was so deep in negotiations with my own body that I didn't even clock how far in I was until the marshal shouted, “One lap left!” I crossed the line with zero idea where I'd placed.
1st in my category. 🥇
This month alone I've placed 1st in the Vet Women's category at my very first ever Crit and I finished my second duathlon. That’s 2 medals baby! 🏅🏅
This one hit different because I almost talked myself out of it. Ready is a myth. Showing up before you feel ready is the actual training.
See you at the next monthly criterium
@pitstopcommunity. My legs have been warned. 🦵🏾
