A truly innovative full-frame lens set that opens up a look previously achievable only with 65mm format cameras.
These lenses perform exceptionally well wide open at T1 and render images with pleasing, smooth bokeh.
We tested the Zhongyi Zone T1 35mm, 50mm and 75mm. More focal lengths in development to complete the set.
The flares wide open at T1 are colorful and well balanced. The image looks surprisingly sharp even on the large 8K RED V-Raptor X sensor.
Wide open, the flares are fairly subtle. At smaller apertures, the flares become more pronounced around the center of the lens. The 16-blade iris creates a well-defined starburst around bright light sources.
At 3 kg (6.6 lb), these lenses are hefty, but their uniform size, weight, and gear positioning make swapping lenses fast and seamless, without the need to rebalance gimbals or remote heads.
All in all, these lenses fill a unique position, allowing for an exceptionally shallow depth of field wide open, that was previously only achievable with 65mm or IMAX cameras. Great for distinctive portraits or shooting with available light in extremely low-light conditions. While more and more modern cameras offer high-ISO modes for low-light photography, nothing compares to images captured with a sufficient amount of light reaching the sensor.
