Chapter 25: The Bee How do you know if a man is flirting or just being nice? You don’t. You find out later, and by then you’ve already decided something. I was at a car wash on a Tuesday. A good one. Glass waiting room, air conditioning, coffee that wasn’t terrible. I waited outside anyway. There were chairs under a canopy with the sun on them, and I will always pick the sun. I had been there forty minutes. My car was third in line. There were planters along the wall. That’s where the bee came from. It landed on my arm. I don’t move when I’m scared. Some people scream. I go completely still, which is worse, because nobody notices and nobody helps. A man walked past, saw it, and waved it away without stopping. Then he came back. “You’re welcome,” he said. I hadn’t said thank you. We talked for the rest of the wait. He asked what I did. I said I used to study engineering. He asked why I said “used to.” I said it was a long story. He said he had three cars in front of him. He was thirty-four. He told me without being asked, like it was something he preferred to put on the table early. I did the math in the car afterwards. Then I stopped doing the math. When my car came out he asked for my number. I gave him my Instagram instead. I’d like to say that was caution. It wasn’t. It was so I could look at his photos first. He wrote the next morning at 9:14. “How’s the bee?” I answered in under a minute, which I would prefer not to have done. We texted all day. About nothing. At night: “There’s a place I go on Fridays. You’re coming with me.” Not a question. I read it four times looking for the question. Then I said yes. #datingstories #storytelling #anaschuwaltz #anachapters

Desperately wanted to share for a while! But we had to do a bit of painting and add the lights before I could share! It’s been quite the makeover from a boxy room to opening it all to create this split level bedroom with en-suite below and although not finished you can really see how the room looks now. From those first drawings to this it looks so similar! We had the mdf stairs made originally so it was safe, it’s quite a tight space but I wanted it to give the appearance of being bigger with the larger bullnose at the bottom and to add some curves in some way. A huge thank you to @firststepdesigns who completely got my vision and made the oak veneer steps, created extra storage for me and created those curves with that beautiful oak balustrade. They made it from a plain staircase into something wow! We just had to do a little painting and add some lights (they created the recesses for us) I’ll be starting on the headboard this weekend as we have our new bed ready (we are gutted our bed in our current home is too big to fit in here) and the wardrobes are ordered and hopefully will be fitted before Christmas It’s a long one sorry but we’ve done so much I couldn’t not share the process! Hope you like ❤️❤️❤️ .
