10 years in the making. To God be the glory. 🤍
If you would’ve asked 16-year-old me where I’d end up, this would’ve never been my answer.
I thought I’d spend my life doing makeup, sewing, cooking, and building businesses. I did not like people. I was selfish, chasing my own plans. But God had a different story to write.
At 16, In HS I pursued nursing to make my Haitian family proud. I almost failed, graduated, and never even took my licensure exam.
At 17, I moved to attend FAMU & switched my major from nursing to pre-med. hated it. Then I discovered psychology. and fell in love.
From 18–20, I was living far from God, smoking weed every day, partying, drinking, and searching for fulfillment in all the wrong places. While still going to church on Sundays. Yet His mercy never left me. Even then, He was preparing me. By His grace alone, I graduated with my B.S. in Psychology in just three years.
At 21–22, after graduating I moved to GA. Got rejected for grad school, went to esthetician school instead. And launched my business! And then God began stripping away everything I depended on. Through His Word and prayer, He started transforming my heart.
At 23, I gave Jesus my complete yes. I was baptized, built a prayer closet(watch war room), surrendered my old lifestyle, and learned what intimacy with God truly looked like. When my car broke down, what felt like a setback became one of God’s greatest classrooms. Bus/uber rides became ministry. I met strangers who would pour out their stories, and I had the privilege of pointing them back to Jesus. During that season, God reignited my passion for counseling, and I was accepted into Grad school!
This degree represents more than assignments and exams. It represents God’s faithfulness through every detour, every failure, every addiction, every surrender, every “no,” every bus/train/uber ride, every prayer, and every quiet season.
He took someone who didn’t like people and gave her a heart to love them.
I’m still being refined, but if my story encourages even one person to trust God’s plan over their own, then it’s worth sharing.
Today at 26, The degree is finished, but God’s work in me is just beginning👸🏾
