Finally, I am transferring my Little Mermaid x Fairly Oddparents AU over to Instagram! This is Part 1/??? ✨

Back in autumn of 2024, I was getting back into not only FOP but drawing in general after years of hardly touching a pencil or stylus. I wanted to find a style that was a hybrid of FOP and my usual Disney shtick. I also only had the most cheap, bare bones version of Sai ever. All of this combined made for hideous artwork. Important first steps tho, I guess.

I love mermaids, so that’s why of my Disney crossover ideas, this is the one that went crazy out of control and I’m still drawing it to this day. I’m gonna try to post this mostly in order.

🫧 That first image is what started it all. I might have refrained from doing any more, because I knew it was a self-indulgent idea to start with, and I figured most people wouldn’t feel it was right for coswan. But I really like what this AU does for them, and…

🫧 When I had the thought that H.P. should be Ursula because both characters have a propensity to use contracts for evil, the jokes started to flow in my head.

🫧 I would end up changing Cosmo’s first viewing of the yellow dress later, but the important thing is that I accidentally wrote “swiry” instead of “swirly.” Geez.

🫧 This first time I drew Big Daddy as King Triton, I tried to show that I was brave enough to draw him without a shirt. This was the wrong call and this drawing scares me.

🫧 The last four images are part of one set meant to illustrate that most people are unkind to Wanda’s voice in this AU, at least where she’s from. This is meant to reflect how mean people are to her in the worst seasons of the show. I wouldn’t accept it as canon, but the little mermaid’s voice being so very beautiful is an important plot point in the original film. Therefore, it should mean something that Wanda’s unconventional voice feeds into her internal conflict, her hurt sense of self…and Cosmo’s love for her.
