Let’s finish what we started.

New White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia appeared completely lost for words and visibly fumbling on her first day at the podium Tuesday, reading awkwardly from a script during a brief, heavily scripted debut that drew immediate criticism for its lack of command.

Zacharia, a conservative commentator and former senior communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, succeeded Karoline Leavitt and stepped to the lectern in the James Brady Press Briefing Room for the first time. The entire appearance lasted roughly 14 minutes. She spent most of it looking down at prepared remarks, speaking slowly and stiffly while praising President Trump’s record, midterm campaign efforts, and administration claims. Observers noted she rarely made sustained eye contact and appeared nervous as she worked through the notes.

The performance included a clear verbal stumble. When a reporter asked how she would balance the demanding job with her four children, Zacharia said, “So my president — excuse me, my husband,” before recovering with “That’s a good one.” The moment prompted laughter in the room. She also struggled to answer a question about U.S. intelligence sharing with Ukraine, saying she would have to get back to the reporter. After taking questions from just three outlets — Breitbart, Fox News, and the Daily Mail — she abruptly ended the briefing, telling reporters they could ask Trump their questions as he prepared to leave for a campaign trip to Alaska.

Critics described the debut as amateurish and unprepared. Journalists and commentators highlighted the heavy reliance on notes, the halting delivery, and the early exit. Former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki called it “basically an SNL skit.” Independent journalist Aaron Rupar said Zacharia “makes Karoline Leavitt seem like Winston Churchill.” Other assessments labeled it “brutal,” and “a train wreck.”

President Trump, asked about the briefing before boarding Marine One, said, “I thought she was very good.” White House communications director Steven Cheung called it a “tremendous start” and said she “commanded the room.”

Glenn Close brought her unmistakable star power to the La bola negra screening, where she gave a special introduction. Which of her roles is your all-time favorite? 🎬❤️

First and foremost, I give thanks and glory to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! What God cannot do, does not exist! ✞

Special shout out to my Mum; my Queen, my best friend, my heartbeat!❤️ And my ever reliable and trustworthy bestie, Ameen!🤍
You have both supported me unwavering. You have really rallied around me and all your efforts have not gone unnoticed. From the depths of my soul, I truly thank you both for everything!🫶🏽

And of course my supporters/fans! You have been absolutely amazing! I am stunned and humbled to have impacted so many of you. And your messages….trust me, I HAVE SEEN EVERY SINGLE ONE! All of you are superstars and your kind words have touched my heart and moved me to tears. I thank you for riding with me through all the ups and downs and using your voices to speak out against injustices, false narratives and blatant favouritism. I appreciate every single one of you! The right decision is not always the easiest.💕 (1/4)

I still cannot believe that from hundreds of thousands of applicants, I was chosen to be a part of Big Brother UK 2026!

I am incredibly grateful to have had this dream become a reality; a dream since the age of 5!

This journey brought some great highs as well as horrible lows. No contact with loved ones over a long period of time takes a toll and in-spite of incessant goading, provocation and bullying on a daily basis, I look back on this experience with such fond memories! (I would do it again in a heartbeat). From the tasks, to the Diary Room, to the hot tub…👀 even meeting AJ was enough for me!😂 I’ve laughed and I’ve cried but ultimately, I have done things I never thought I would whilst making some deep and unreal connections.

Some of the Housemates will ALWAYS have a place in my heart. Especially MY RYDERS, you’ve got me for life now!💯 (2/4)

I am NOT the finished article. I never purported to be perfect…and I never will be. What matters is my commitment to be better than who I was yesterday. I am HUMAN, I have emotions, and I HURT just like you. I have my faults like any other person and we are ALL fallible. Not one person is better than the next.
I urge you to be mindful, be considerate, be gracious, be k
