Today I worked on a video for a Juilliard K-12 Project and touched on the more wholesome values of participating in a competition: stepping on stage is already a sign of courage, preparing for a competition brings growth and focus, and sharing your work develops confidence. Yes, winning a prize is exciting and wonderful and prizes matter, but even without a trophy, you can walk away with new skills, new feedback and a stronger sense of who you are as an artist.
