I rarely post anything without some degree of planning, but today marks a special occasion and i’m feeling v inspired...

Because this morning I met with a woman whose tenacity should honestly be studied. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever come across before and if you keep reading and you’ll understand why.

Her name is Cat Hart @cat_hart_maternity - and i’ve followed her journey on instagram over the past 6 months, but now that I’ve been lucky enough to meet her in person I can confidently say she is the bravest person i’ve ever met.

Last year, after having her baby, Cat developed postpartum psychosis, but she was turned away by medical professional after medical professional, each telling her some version of “you’re fine” or “this is normal after a baby”.

She was not fine. she had a severe, debilitating illness, and instead of getting the care she deserved, she was sent home. she ran into the street and was hit by a bus and by some miracle she survived (praying to the miracle workers here), but she spent 7 long months in hospital learning to live with life-changing injuries that never should have happened.

and yet this morning she sat beside me, a total stranger, in a london café and told me her story with courage and grace. Surprisingly trauma can do that.

Go and follow her… not just because she’s inspiring, but because she tells her story far better than i ever could. i’m not sure the words exist in my vocabulary to honour her journey or do it justice.

She is an extremely impressive woman, and it’s rare to connect with someone so deeply, swapping stories knowing you can make a real difference to each other’s lives.

I wanted to understand how she found the strength to share her story whilst living through it, making an enormous difference to birthing parents, medics, PPP sufferers and charities while still being so vulnerable herself. People who’ve been through something devastating often find solace in helping others. but honestly, I think she’s just a unicorn.

it took me a long time to get to a place where i could put other people first. Cat has been fighting for the health of future mothers from day one, and sharing something this raw online is not👇🏼

This is my version of the Perla Jacket by Claudia Quintanilla @eweknitto , from her new book Threads of Memory - Knitting with meaning. The English version is now available, so I can finally share this pre-knit with you!

I knew I wanted a sleeveless version because I had this whole outfit planned in my head. And since I wanted to style it as a vest, I replaced the zipper with a double-knitted button band. Sometimes you just have to make a pattern work for the look you’re after, right?

For the yarn, I used Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino held together with Soft Silk Mohair, both in Limestone.

And of course, I couldn’t just show you the vest on its own… you know by now that I need to style the whole outfit! ☺️ Denim-on-denim, a little neck scarf, and a pop of red. I love how it all came together, a little Parisian chic.

The pattern and yarn were gifted for this pre-knit. ❤️

Now I’m curious: would you have kept the original zipper jacket, or would you have made the sleeveless version too?

**WE DO NOT CONDONE BULLYING OR VIOLENCE**

I stopped trying to write down everything my professor says…

You already know the loop. You are writing so you miss the next point. You stop to listen and now there is a gap in your notes. Nobody can do both properly at the same time.

So now Flowtica Scribe handles one half of it and I do the other.

Here is what every lecture looks like for me 👇

📌 Before it starts
One press of the Flowtica Scribe and the whole lecture is recording. It still writes like any normal pen while it does.

📌 During
I only write the key points. Choosing what matters is the part that makes it stick.

📌 The moment something matters
One press of the FlowMark™ button highlights it. Two presses turns it into a to-do, which I use whenever my professor says something will come up in the exam.

📌 The second it ends
The lecture is transcribed and summarised with every highlight marked and every to-do already in a list.

📌 Later
I photograph my handwritten page into the app with Snap It so my own notes and the full recording sit in the same place. Then I can ask questions about either one.

👉30 hours of recording on one charge.
100 hours with the charging case.

👉Comment “PEN” & I’ll send you the link!
