New one 🥰😍

Crime used to be so out of control in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, that Miguel Dao, a professional kidnapping negotiator, was hired to secure the freedom of three different captives in a single day.

But it’s been three years since Dao has had a single kidnapping to negotiate.

The homicide rate in the city has plummeted in recent years, and kidnappings, both extended high-ransom cases and “express” abductions lasting about a day, have all but disappeared.

Different factors — some the stuff of nightmares — drove Caracas’s security gains. Read the full story, which is available in English and Spanish, on the city’s sharp decline of crime and the atrocities committed to get there at the link in our bio. Photos by @adriana.loureiro

🎥 ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ (2000)

Fun Fact: Most of the show’s dialogue was never actually written.

Larry David created detailed story outlines that mapped out what needed to happen, but the actors were largely responsible for finding the dialogue through improvisation.

For the first three seasons, Cheryl Hines wasn’t even given the full outlines because David worried actors would prepare jokes in advance. He wanted their reactions and conversations to happen naturally in the moment.

That unusual approach remained part of ‘Curb’ throughout its 24-year run, giving its awkward conversations the spontaneous feeling that became one of the show’s signatures.
