A Georgia church deacon and high school teacher is facing criminal charges after allegedly kicking four children off a church bus and leaving them stranded on the side of a busy road.

According to police, Erin Menefee, 42, was arrested following an October 11 incident involving children ages 9, 10, 11, and 12. The children were reportedly riding home from Oakridge Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, when Menefee allegedly ordered them off the bus for cursing, fighting, and being disruptive.

The children’s mother told authorities that Menefee left them at an intersection several miles from home. She reportedly drove around searching for the children but couldn’t locate them. A stranger eventually found the four children and brought them home. According to the police report, a family member claimed Menefee said the children were misbehaving and that he “don’t play that.”

When questioned by police, Menefee reportedly admitted to leaving the children behind, explaining that their behavior was disruptive and that he made the decision for his safety. He claimed he contacted their grandmother but acknowledged that he should have waited until someone arrived to pick them up.

Menefee, who also works as a teacher at Mitchell County High School, was arrested and charged with four counts of reckless conduct. He has since been released on bond.

Do you think the bus driver should have been arrested, or was he justified in removing the children because of their behavior?

Yesterday was one for the books! I can’t thank everyone enough for making this day special for us! It has been 8 years since Hank had been to an NFL game…but our first together as fans..Being able to share something that was such a huge part of my life for so long was something I wasn’t quite ready to process. The memories that were shared last night will last forever. I saw teammates and coaches from college that I hadn’t seen in 20 years! Just happened to run into a couple hoopers too along the way. Oh ya and the @buffalobills win!!! #Billsmafia #familyforever #love
