St. Helena’s Chamber of Commerce held its summer mixer Thursday night at Orin Swift, the tasting room built inside a historic downtown bank building on Main Street. Despite the name, Orin Swift isn’t a person. Founder Dave Phinney built the brand around his father’s middle name and his mother’s maiden name, and the tasting room’s neon signage and vintage scissors installation have become one of downtown St. Helena’s most photographed spots.

Ray Ray’s Tacos served food throughout the evening, keeping plates moving as business owners from around town mingled under the neon. Add in a raffle stacked with prizes, and the room had the kind of energy most networking events never get close to.

Behind it is a team of five, led by President and CEO Amy Carabba-Salazar, working out of a small office on Main Street. They put together some of the most talked about business mixers not just in Napa Valley, but arguably in the country, and they do it against the backdrop of vineyards, historic architecture, and some of the best wine on earth. That’s not a coincidence. It’s the job.

The Chamber moves these mixers between wineries and standout local venues throughout the year, which means St. Helena’s business community never experiences the same event twice.
