Ceuta ist eine kleine spanische Exklave an der Nordküste Afrikas. Sie liegt direkt am Rand Marokkos, gehört aber zu Spanien und damit zur Europäischen Union.
Aufgrund ihrer besonderen Lage ist Ceuta eine der sensibelsten Grenzen zwischen Afrika und Europa. Die Stadt steht immer wieder im Mittelpunkt von Diskussionen über Migration und Grenzsicherheit.
Doch Ceuta ist auch politisch umstritten: Marokko betrachtet das Gebiet als marokkanisches Territorium unter spanischer Kontrolle, während Spanien darauf besteht, dass die Stadt ein fester Bestandteil des Landes ist.
