Finally, construction of my second shop has begun!

I signed the papers at the end of July, convinced that by now I would be much further along. But as with most things in life, it didn’t happen according to plan, but I know this is how it was supposed to be.

Thanks to that today I’ve had enough time to think, to question, to change my mind, to find the right people, as well as to encounter new people that have given me joy and happiness…but mostly to make decisions that feel like my own. What initially felt like a delay has turned out to be an important part of the process. I needed those months, even if I didn’t know it then.

And now, strangely enough, there is no impatience. Just a wonderful sense of peace in knowing exactly where I want to go.

After almost 17 years in pastry, looking back at everything it has taken to get here…the endless hours, the sacrifices, the uncertainty, the mistakes, the beautiful encounters, the moments of absolute joy and those when I questioned everything.

Building a life around something you love is a wonderful privilege, but it isn’t always a romantic one… perhaps that is why moments like these mean so much to me.

To finally begin to see the fruits of all those years of work. To have the freedom to create something that feels entirely my own. To be surrounded by people I admire, trust and love, and to have them be part of this journey.

I don’t think I could have imagined, all those years ago, how much it would take to get here. Or how much I would change along the way.

It’s a different kind of happiness in arriving somewhere you have worked so hard to reach. Not because everything is suddenly easy, or because there is nothing left to prove, but because I feel exactly where I am supposed to be.

So here it is. A second L’Abeille, in the heart of Amsterdam, a tiny shop attached to the Niewe Kerk.

A new space, a new expression of everything I’ve been building over the years, and the beginning of something I’ve been carrying in my imagination for a long time.

There is still so much to do, and so much I want to create. But right now, I’m just very happy to be here.
And I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on.

Dude earned his way in the Hard way 😂🪄 #ONLYinDADE
