I’ve always had this almost overwhelming sensitivity to beautiful things. Art, music, dance, theatre, nature, a beautifully made plate of food, the sea, the moon, a sunset, a beautiful space… apparently, give me beauty and I will cry (9 out of 10 times). 😂🥹

I used to think that was a little weird. Why am I having tears in my eyes while everyone else seems perfectly fine? But as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to love this part of myself.

I think what I experience through beauty is awe: that almost indescribable feeling of being moved by something greater than myself.

And perhaps that is also why I have always felt such a deep admiration for artists and creators. There is something sacred to me about the ability to take a feeling, an intuition, an idea, a glimpse of something greater and give it form. As if creation itself were flowing through them, allowing them to become co-creators of all the beauty and love that exists around us and in us.

There are moments when something moves me so deeply that I feel completely connected. And maybe that is what beauty does: it makes us pay attention. It brings us back into the present. It reminds us who we are.

I’ve also realised that creating beauty around me and in me is not simply something I enjoy. It is part of how I move through life. In the spaces I create, in the work I do, in the things I make, in the way I live. 🌸

Maybe that is why art has always meant so much to me. It isn’t decoration. It is something that can awaken us.

This piece, 1980s by @elenagual.art , came into my life at the closing of a very meaningful chapter. Somehow, it felt like the perfect piece to mark it - a reminder of femininity, strength, beauty, transformation, and everything still waiting to be created.
