7 days agoJust a heads up, from someone who has just visited Rome and went to see all these churches based on this video. Basilica di San Clemente is currently undergoing renovations and the interior is nearly entirely covered in scaffolding. There is a €10 fee to enter the downstairs excavations. Personally, I did not think it was worth it. Chiesa del Gesu is very beautiful. The dome illusion is very impressive; however, the "Baroque Machine" is currently undergoing repairs and the daily showing is not happening. There is a sign saying this has been closed since February 2026, so the video does not have up to date information. The best church of the 3 by far, was San Luigi dei Francesi. The Caravaggio paintings are amazing and the interior of the church is spectacular, like a mini St Peter's Basilica. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a chapel dedicated to St Cecelia, the patron saint of music. Out of the 3 I think this one is most worth the visit.
