Fresh cut n shave did NOT cure my exhaustion! 🥱🥱🫩🫩

This is "SONG OF ORPHEUS", the 2027 MFE Stitch-A-Long (SAL). I'm thrilled to present this design to you today (or yesterday, if you are one of my lovely Patreons!). The PDF is available through my website now (https://www.modernfolkembroidery.com). If you prefer the print version, you can get this through @evertotes in Canada.

Out of all the Greek myths, I have always really loved the stories of Orpheus. Perhaps it is because I love music that his stories appealed to me. Whatever the case, I was inspired for this SAL by some gorgeous damask napkins in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. On one of the napkins was a depiction of Orpheus, which I used as inspiration for this design.

Song of Orpheus can be stitched in three different ways: as seen on the cover of the booklet (first slide here), in a negative monochrome way (2nd slide), or worked with two colours. The pattern booklet shows the 2 colour version. If you ignore the symbols you can stitch the monochrome version. Pattern keeper versions for all three versions are also included in your PDF purchase, as well as a bonus mini alphabet sampler chart (featuring a Latin and a Greek alphabet and some traditional Greek borders).

Every year-long SAL is a bit of a party, as stitchers from all over the world come together to work on a design - it's so exciting every year to see what folks come up with and the creative interpretations that folks have. I cannot wait to see what you all will come up with. Which version would you like to stitch? Or would you do something completely different? #MFESAL2027 #ModernFolkEmbroidery #CrossStitch #xstitch #xstitchdesigner #embroidery #greekmythology #orpheusandeurydice #TheOdyssey #broderi #korsstygn #korssting #kreuzstich #kruissteek #MFESAL
