This video is from my first visit to Raja Ampat in Feb 2026. It made me wonder… if just one fewer tourist had taken a shell home to sit on a shelf a world away, this hermit crab might have had a safe home instead. 💭🐚

Next time I’m going to the beach I’m going to bring most of my wheels that crabs can live in to help them but I will keep a few of them but give the ocean most of them

I only take extremely extremely broken shells. If the sand has worn it down the the point that it’s in 80 pieces then I’m taking one tiny piece that’s basically sand. I like the colors but I don’t like full shells or even shells with only a few holes in them. I want the bits.

THIS we ALL need to stop hoarding shells!! Hermit crabs rely on them for homes and when all shells are taken they’re forced to fight for shells, leaving them stressed, vulnerable, in ill-fitting shells or completely homeless 💔🐚
