This is one of my favorite (and one of the most beautiful) places I’ve ever been. The South Solon Meetinghouse, just outside of Skowhegan, Maine. It was originally built in 1842, but between 1952 and 1956, the interior was covered with an unbelievable combination of frescoes overseen by faculty and staff of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (where fresco painting is a pillar of the school, about five minutes down the road) and financed by Margaret Blake who had attended the school. There are 13 individual frescoes that kind of blend together to create this unbelievably engulfing storm of color and figure that feels unlike anything I’ve experienced, especially since the building stands alone on a rural corner, 15 minutes outside of Skowhegan. It really feels like it should not be there. The list of artists includes some that studied under fresco masters like Rivera, and the committee that oversaw the fellowship included the directors of The MoMA and The Whitney at the time. It’s an absolutely wonderful place to be, and probably my favorite American fresco site (with possibly the exception of Rivera’s Detroit Industry Murals) I’ve seen. I sat solo for an hour, moving from vantage point to vantage point. It feels like you’ve slipped through a seam, into another universe. I’ve thought about it every day for the last two weeks

#NEWS: Diddy reportedly got into a fight with fellow inmate Christopher Coke, a Jamaican drug lord known as “Dudus,” at Fort Dix federal prison, suffering a head injury so severe that he was rushed to an outside medical facility, according to TMZ. Sources claim the altercation stemmed from anger over an NBC News report exposing Diddy’s alleged luxurious lifestyle behind bars. Following the report, prison officials reportedly conducted at least two raids and confiscated cellphones from inmates, including Coke. Coke, who has been serving a 23 year sentence since 2012, was reportedly furious over the loss of privileges following the raids. Sources claim both men were placed in solitary confinement for two weeks after the fight. Diddy was already being held in the Special Housing Unit following the NBC report, and the alleged altercation occurred during his daily break, according to the report.
