They had a first date planned for Friday. But one unexpected request ended things before they even met.

A man reportedly canceled his first date with a woman he met on Tinder after she asked him to send her money to get her nails done.

According to screenshots of their text conversation, the man had already offered to pick her up at 7 PM on Friday when she suddenly asked:

“Can you send me something for my nails though?”

Confused, he asked why she needed him to pay for her nails.

She explained that she wanted to get them done before their date.

His response was straightforward.

“I’m not trying to be rude, but I don’t understand why you’re asking me to pay for your nails.”

Moments later, he followed up:

“Honestly, I think we should just cancel the date.”

She responded with a simple “Okay,” and the conversation ended.

The exchange has sparked a familiar debate about dating expectations, financial boundaries, and what people should reasonably expect from someone they haven’t even met.

Some believe a man who is pursuing a woman should be willing to contribute financially, while others argue that paying for someone’s personal expenses before a first date shouldn’t be an expectation.

Ultimately, both people are entitled to their own standards. But having standards also means accepting that not everyone will agree with them.

Was he right to cancel the date, or did he overreact?

One night wild camping, a 20-minute walk to the tent spot, and I still filled a 65L backpack...

I've only ever done one night of wild camping at a time, not because I don't want to stay longer, but because my endometriosis has other ideas. One night sleeping on the ground is usually about as much as my body can cope with before it becomes too much. I rarely sleep, and I tend to feel a bit beaten up the next day, but to me, it's worth it.

Comfort is a big priority for me. Extra warmth, pain relief and a "Wilson" can make all the difference, even if it means carrying a few extra kilos. And as it was only a short stomp to the camp spot, I could get away with packing a bit more than I would for a longer hike. That being said, my current tent is way too bulky and heavy, so I'll be on the lookout to streamline that.

This was an October wild camp in the Lake District, with decent weather, so what you could need will vary hugely depending on weather and distance etc.

Swipe through for everything I took, from the essentials to the "unnecessaries" I refuse to leave behind.

And remember to leave no trace. Whatever you carry up, carry back down, including your banana skins and used tissues 🫠
