Now, about Opening Night… 🇬🇷🎬

More than 800 people packed the iconic Astor Theatre for the sold-out screening of Best Friends Forever, and what a way to launch the 31st Greek Film Festival.

Greek food, a packed cinema, plenty of laughs and a room full of people coming together to celebrate Greek storytelling, language and culture.

And because Best Friends Forever centres around a wedding, the celebration didn’t stop when the credits rolled.

Guests walked out to a bride and groom, bonbonnieres, wedding cake, music and dancing. Basically, it ended exactly how any good Greek night should. 🙌🇬🇷

This year’s festival features more than 50 films and over 120 screenings across seven Melbourne cinemas, bringing stories from Greece and the Greek diaspora to the big screen.

Missed Opening Night? Don’t stress.
The Greek Film Festival continues until 25 October, so there’s still plenty of time to experience it.

The mother, Nivedya, gave a statement saying that she wanted to build a career in modelling, wanted to pursue further studies and
live an independent life, but felt that her children were preventing her from achieving these aspirations.

She killed her children because she thought it would hinder her from doing so.

She also said that she could not achieve her dreams because she had to look after the children. However, the police have not fully believed her claims.

The children, identified as Jennifer Juliet (5) and Robin Christopher (3), were found dead in a water tank inside the bathroom of their rented home on September 29, 2026. Initially, the deaths were suspected to be accidental.

However, after doubts were raised about the circumstances, police questioned the mother, who allegedly confessed to drowning both children.

Reports indicate that family disputes and other issues are being considered as part of the investigation.

The accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.

The deaths of two innocent children have left their family and the community devastated. The case also raises painful questions about child safety and the responsibility adults have towards the children who depend on them.

I honestly think @diggerthemovie would connect with more people if it focused on everyday Americans facing real environmental challenges. It’s hard to relate to wealthy celebrities preaching about climate change while living lavish lifestyles.

Give us people we recognize, struggles we understand, and a story worth caring about. This is the type of movie we all want to see, it’s a movie worth seeing in theaters!
