Small Blue Dot Artists' Film Shortlist

'British Columbia Canada, 2021: We are surviving the vagaries of climate change' by @coppin_erin & Dr. Jo Scott

This #filmpoem makes climate precarity feel both impossibly vast and terrifyingly intimate.

Erin Coppin's found-text poem, born from her lived experience as an emigrant watching extreme weather devastate her home country from afar, is layered with Dr. Jo Scott's looped vocals and manipulated landscapes. Together, they've created an unsettling soundscape that captures something so easily felt but hard to articulate: the formless threat of climate breakdown, simultaneously too distant to feel real and too close to ignore.

This is what happens when personal experience meets artistic collaboration.
This is what happens when you stop looking away.

The Small Blue Dot exhibition runs from 20–25 Aug at Espacio Gallery, London. The finalist films will be in exhibition throughout. (And we look forward to celebrating these and the runners up post exhibition.)

Private View: 20 Aug, 6:30 - 9:30 pm (link in bio to RSVP).

Open daily: 10:30 am–6:30 pm.
