Curau de Milho 🌽💛 or Canjica, as it's called in the Northeast of Brazil! Another traditional Brazilian recipe made it to Irish national TV! 🇧🇷🇮🇪 And I have a feeling this one was a little too different for the presenters' taste buds! 🤭🙈 I don't think it went down quite as well as I hoped hahaha! But I still absolutely LOVE it! Not only because I genuinely think it's delicious, but because it brings back such lovely childhood memories. Growing up in Brazil, Sunday afternoons meant visiting my grandmothers, and on our way home we'd often stop at Rancho da Pamonha, a roadside restaurant where EVERYTHING was made with corn. Curau was always my favourite! For this TV appearance, I even went to Naas to pick up beautiful organic sweetcorn grown locally by @ballincareyfarm. From an Irish farm to a traditional Brazilian dessert. How lovely is that?! 💛 If you like custard, you should give curau a try. It's creamy, naturally full of sweetcorn flavour, and made with just a few ingredients. Here's how I make it! 🌽 CURAU DE MILHO — Brazilian Sweetcorn Custard Serves 4 Ingredients 600g fresh sweetcorn kernels (cut off the cob) 500ml milk 120g caster sugar Ground cinnamon, to finish Method Cut the kernels off the cobs and blend with the milk until smooth. Strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth, squeezing out as much liquid as possible. Pour the liquid into a saucepan, add the sugar and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 20–25 minutes until thick and creamy. Divide between serving bowls and refrigerate until set. Finish with a sprinkle of cinnamon! And don't throw away the leftover corn pulp! You can toast it and use it as a crunchy topping for salads or add it to your granola. Not every Brazilian flavour is going to win everyone over on the first bite, and that's part of the fun of sharing our food and culture! 😂 Would you give sweetcorn custard a try? Save this recipe, you'll need it! 🌽💛 #BrazilianFood #CurauDeMilho #BrazilianRecipes #IrishFood #SambaByGiselle
