This isn’t to say that everyone who takes outside funding is shady, it’s just a reminder that I could have retired long ago if I wanted to take the kind of money that’s available in this space. The kind of money that pays $10 million + a year if you’re willing to say the things people want you to say and you have a large enough platform. If you want to follow someone with real expertise who’s actually independent, hello. It’s good to meet you. 😘

Brett Meiselas: This is something that has been decades in the making… I don’t even think people totally understand how deep it goes. It’s one of the things we speak about in our new book, WTF America.. is how the seeds were planted for this right-wing infrastructure going back to the ’70s. I’m talking about Roger Ailes in the Nixon administration, having a document that said, “A Plan to Put the GOP on TV News,” and it took him a few decades to actually implement that, along with Rupert Murdoch. But they’ve since built this behemoth, this incredible right-wing machine. I don’t mean that in a good way, but this right-wing machine that allows there to never be another Richard Nixon situation anymore, where somebody is actually held responsible. In many ways, that was the original sin for so many of these people, that they wanted to fight back on. They wanted to build a propaganda machine. And now we’re seeing that with Fox and these right-wing influencers, and they are just polluting the airwaves. They are taking over companies. And it was also laid out for us in black and white in Project 2025.
2,000 candles in the shape of Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese Cross on the steps of The Met’s Great Hall. The beginning of an exquisite evening hosted by Vacheron Constantin and The Met in the Temple of Dendur — celebrating the culmination of their inaugural Artisan Residency Program. That gallery can be filled with complicated decor. This night was about the opposite — the drama of the handmade. Three new works unveiled under 2,000-year-old stone — Aspen Golann’s monumental VESSEL, Ibrahim Said’s SHAPING TIME, and Joy Harvey's RUINED SPLENDOUR - BRONZE DIADEM — each born from 18 months of study in The Met’s collection and in Vacheron’s workshops in Geneva. A night built on one metaphor layered on another: the handmade precision of the watches, to the artists in residency, to the hands that carved the Temple itself, so many centuries ago. An extraordinary night of details, precision, artistry. In this age of uber fast digital advances, the slow triumphs of the hand and heart must be celebrated as well. Swipe — . . .
