When I say I’m from Kurdistan, I’m told “it’s not a country.”
But if I said the same about Palestine, people would be angry.
The truth? Neither Kurdistan nor Palestine were modern nation-states.

Both existed as historic regions long before today’s borders.
Palestine has never had more historical recognition than Kurdistan.

Kurdistan existed as recognised regions and eyalets under the Ottoman Empire, appears on historical maps long before that
- and today has autonomous and semi-autonomous regions, something Palestine does not.

So why is one identity respected - and the other dismissed?
