#ValChmerkovskiy has issued a public apology to #CarrieAnnInaba after sparking backlash over a since-deleted TikTok status referencing Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap. The #DancingWithTheStars pro wrote, “You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night,” following Inaba’s criticism of his wife, Jenna Johnson, during Tuesday’s episode. Val has since revealed that he reached out to Carrie Ann privately to apologize before addressing the controversy publicly. “I should have never made the reference that I did and I deeply regret it,” he wrote. “I recognize that I am in a fortunate position to have a platform and to be a role model to some, and I need to treat that with more care.” He concluded, “I am truly sorry to Carrie Ann, and everyone who I hurt with my careless post. I will do better moving forward.” #DWTS
