First Backyard Ultra ✔️ 12 Yards, 50 miles, 80k ish.

First and foremost, what an incredible experience to do this event which I never would’ve dreamed of doing even last year. Never mind to do it alongside so many great people and have so much support from friends, family and the Sculpt team throughout.

Shoutout to @zone5events for putting on an incredible show with Endure the Moor.

In terms of the actual race I have mixed emotions if I’m being totally honest.

Coming from a Strength background originally I’ve never ran more than a marathon, so I’m proud to gain a distance PB and hit 50 miles which is a big milestone for me.

During the race I knew I wasn’t feeling myself from about lap 6 onwards and having Gastroenteritis all of last week I knew it was going to turn into an uphill battle. From lap 8/9 I started being sick or wretching each lap and after that my head was gone.

No excuses as you play the cards you are dealt, but I can’t help but feel a little disappointed that this held me back more than my legs.

Wanted to at least get to 100km and tick that off the bucket list but under the circumstances I was actually proud of the effort for getting through 3-4 more hours feeling like that.

So proud, but not satisfied. But every outcome is a lesson to build on.

Now for the thank yous.. first of all @jc_performancecoaching for the last few months of coaching, feeling on top of the world for Budapest marathon, and pulling me round those last few laps.

A special shoutout to @mattydickinsoncoaching for crewing me, and being as enthusiastic as ever while force feeding us and watching us run round in circles.

My friends, family and the sculpt team who came down and showed their support during the race. You know who yous are. 🫶

And of course my @laurawoodsy for putting up with me these last few months for one last hurrah (or two) and supporting me every single day with the training and work load and of course sitting with me on the day weeks out from baby number two.. I love you loads x

De Amerikaanse president Donald Trump heeft aangekondigd dat de Verenigde Staten eind dit jaar stoppen met de jaarlijkse miljardensteun aan Israël. Dat verklaarde hij tijdens een interview met Fox News, op de dag van de Amerikaanse tussentijdse verkiezingen.

Volgens Trump hebben hij en de Israëlische oorlogsmisdadiger Benjamin Netanyahu maanden geleden al een akkoord bereikt over het beëindigen van de financiële steun. Opvallend genoeg zou Netanyahu zelf met het voorstel zijn gekomen.

“We geven Israël 4 miljard dollar per jaar, maar aan het einde van dit jaar stopt dat”, zei Trump. Volgens de president heeft Israël het geld niet langer nodig, omdat het land economisch sterk genoeg is om zijn eigen militaire uitgaven te betalen.

De Verenigde Staten verstrekken Israël jaarlijks ongeveer 3,8 miljard dollar aan militaire steun, voornamelijk voor Amerikaanse wapens. De huidige overeenkomst werd in 2016 gesloten en loopt officieel nog door tot 2028. Het is daarom nog onduidelijk hoe Trump de steun al eind dit jaar wil beëindigen.

De aankondiging komt op een gevoelig moment. In de Verenigde Staten groeit de kritiek op de Amerikaanse steun aan Israël, vooral vanwege de enorme verwoestingen en het grote aantal Palestijnse burgerslachtoffers in Gaza. Steeds meer Amerikaanse politici pleiten ervoor de militaire hulp volledig stop te zetten.

Trump erkende tijdens het interview dat de miljardensteun politiek steeds moeilijker te verdedigen is. Hij verwees daarbij naar de Democratische Senaatskandidaat Abdul El-Sayed, die zich fel uitspreekt tegen Amerikaanse militaire steun aan Israël.

Ook in Israël heeft de aankondiging tot onrust geleid. Oppositiepolitici waarschuwen dat het wegvallen van miljarden aan Amerikaanse steun ernstige gevolgen kan hebben voor de Israëlische defensie.

Toch betekent de aankondiging niet dat de militaire samenwerking tussen beide landen volledig stopt. Trump benadrukte dat Israël Amerikaanse wapens kan blijven kopen en dat Washington het land indien nodig zal blijven helpen.
