The last two weeks have been some of the hardest of my treatment so far. One serious infection after another, reactions at their worst, newer complications every day, and pain so dreadful that there were days I screamed. Some mornings, I woke up to problems I had never even heard of before. Umma and Vappa have been here, witnessing some of my worst days, and I know how difficult it has been for them, too. I have always wanted them to know that it is okay to feel sad, to take time to process things, but not to stay in that sadness. I don’t want them to see this diagnosis as something that has taken my life away, but as something that, in its own difficult ways, has given me newer perspectives on life. We have no control over everything that happens to us, but that doesn’t mean life ends there. Sometimes, we just have to find new meanings and new joys with whatever we have. Last night, I asked Fawaz to bring Umma and Vappa to the hospital, with their dinner packed, so we could eat together, talk for a while and take my little walk around the hospital. And for a little while, life felt normal again. It reminded me that there is still a life beyond this diagnosis, beyond these hospital walls, beyond the infections, the tests and the treatment. Sometimes, it takes a conscious effort to find those little moments, but they remind me of everything I am still living for. I also want to consciously leave this here on my profile, as a little reminder of how I have been looked after, the people who have stood beside me, and the little moments that have meant so much through all of this. Even in the hardest chapters, there is so much love worth remembering. I know this is going to be the most dreadful fight of my life. But somewhere along the way, I have found a confidence in myself that I never knew existed, and a hope that has stayed with me even on my darkest days. I don’t know what the road ahead looks like, but I know I want to see where it takes me. This fight might be one of the hardest things I will ever face, but it has no idea how ready I am to live the life waiting for me on the other side. ❤️✨
